I am interested in a Toyota Carina as a family car and caravan tower.
Anybody out there with any experience of this? Views? Opinions?
Better (economical) alternatives?

Oops - only just seen this. I have the mark 1 version of the Carina
(D reg) and am very pleased with it. Comfortable for the driver,
though I guess the velety-type upholstery isn't too practical with a
clutch of sprogs in the back.
Mine has a flat spot on the acceleration that tuning doesn't seem to
cure. But the power steering is a dream for parking, and the usual
small (Japanese) touches are good. Like a foot rest for the left foot,
buzzer to warn of lights left on, an internally released petrol flap.
Which? magazine rates it highly for reliability.
