"COLOUR SMART - The WIPE ON colour coded polish that covers scratches
and blemishes to give the appearance of a HIGH QUALITY RESPRAY"
Saw this stuff advertised in the Independent magazine last Saturday.
It's a wax with colouration - you give the make/model/year/colour of
your car when you order it. It supposed to treat all the ailments my
old beast is suffering from - scratches, weathering, faded paint,
stone chips - "It's truly amazing".
Anybody out there ever tried this or similar products ? I wouldn't
mind hearing about it before I send off me 15 quid.

It looks incredible on the ads on Satellite TV, which suggests it's
probably no good at all! :^)

| It really does work!!!!
I saw it advertised on Satellite and thought it was too good to be true.
Then I brought a cheap '69 Beetle Wizard Roadster with incredibly bad
black paint work, it was dis-coloured, faded, scratched etc. I had
already booked the car in for a respray. Later the same day I found
myself in Interpart along the Basingstoke road and they had just
received Turtle Waxes equivalent called COLOR MAGIC. I asked the guy in
the store if it really worked and he said honestly that they have
only had it in for a few days and he doesn't know. So I paid the man
8.99 and polished away. The result was incredible, the scrathes
disappeared and the shine had to be seen to be believed.

| Good point - and I'm afraid it's bad news... NO!
The bloomin' stuff refuses to come out, doesn't it?
I can only suggest cleaning with good old soap and water for yonks and
yonks....
Have tried that ArmorAll plastic restorer? It's for black pastic and it
works very well. Wouldn't be surprised if this works, although it's
mainly for faded plastic as opposed to stained. Try it.

I used a spray called 'Back to Black' (they claim it's suitable for all
colours ??), which worked about 90% on my car (no sweat required).

| I tried back to black on the Capri, and it didn't work too well. It
appears to enhance the blackness of your black ok, but doesn't do much
to the white streaks. I asked in halfords, and they recommended
something else (which I can't remember the name of right now) and that
worked a treat. I'll have a look over the weekend and see what it was.

| re: 531.21
I used to have a VW Rabbit and later a GTI and tried a few things to
get the streaks out of the plastic fender guards. What worked best for
me was black liquid shoe polish. It looked good for a week or so, then
needed a re-application, but it was cheap and worked as well as the
more expensive solutions (other than part replacement).

Turtle-Wax Black Chrome. Used it on the black plastic & rubber(or
whatever the rear spoiler was made of) on the Capri. Two applications
made it look like new, and lasted.

| I've used that stuff on my old Fiat Uno bumbers - and like the man
said, made them look like new. I use it on any faded blck rubber. It's
messy to use though, very messy. Armour all is good for other plasticky
trim but avoid doing the dash with it unless you want a shiny plasticky
dash.
Regards Wax - I usually use AutoGlym (they do cream for the leather too
which is very good) but recently seem to have fallen for
any old marketing crap and bought some new stuff out by Simoniz for 8.90
- good gloss finish but not worth it.

I've recently found a car accessories dealer who stocks Raindance, I
used to use this 8 or 9 years ago and it's brilliant - if it's applied
properly it can last up to 2 years, with only the usual soapy water
needed each w/e...
