316.36 About time for some updates on this topic, surely? SUBURB::POWELLMNostalgia isn't what it used to be!Tue Sep 22 1992 13:5515

    	Like Richards Davies, I like Citren diesels, I'm on my 3rd BX
    diesel. 1:BX19DTR; 2:BX DTR Turbo and now BX TZD Turbo.

    	Earlier this year, whilst in a very great hurry, I held 116.5 MPH for
    about 10 miles on the "new" M40 extension. I was holding 4,500 RPM,
    which was just below the red line. I was surprised to notice that the
    Speedo and Tachometers tally'd so closely too. The road test top speed
    is 112 MPH and the MPH/thousand RPM is 25.9.

    	One must remember that the top speed quoted in road tests is over a
    Quarter mile one mile from rest. This means that most cars will build
    up to a higher speed than that quoted.

316.37A Confession!!WOTVAX::BIDDULPHMFri Sep 25 1992 13:486
Arrest that man! He's confessed it.

The question is, should we have him arrested for admitting to driving
a Citroen, a diesel or for speeding?!!?

316.38BX speeds...HEWIE::RUSSELLHAL -> IBM; VMS -> Windows/NTFri Sep 25 1992 15:3411
re the last couple . .

when I got my previous BX DTR Turbo, I drove it over to Belgium & Germany
and gave it a good blast for about 30 minutes, running absolutely
flat out. I concur with .36; I timed it against the kilometre posts, and
it was doing a true 115, with the speedo indicating about 117.

That was the only journey I've ever done where I got under 40 mpg from it;
It did about 39 mpg for the dash to Calais...

Peter.
