| I notice that some BMW engines offer the same power and torque output
whether configured with a cat or not. Do I assume that the dirty
version of say, the 318iS engine is de-tuned to the level of the cat
clean version? If this is the case, does anyone know a of chip for the
engine management system that might provide extra performance?

yes...
swap the ems chip with one from a 750i.
theory:
the chip mods done to R5GT turbos is replacing the ems chip from the 5 with
the one from the R25; so I was told by an ex Renault mechanic

| Re - swapping a 318is chip for a 750i chip, I wonder if the designers
coded the following logic into the 750 chip ROMs:
if (appear to be missing 8 cylinders) then
.........
end if
