I have discovered that an MR2 Tbar in America costs about $15000. This at the present exchange rate is what can only be described as cheap (?). Which gives rise to the question .. How easy is it to import from america ??, what kind of taxes to pay, forms to fill, and presumably a larger than usual delivery charge. Has anyone personal experience of doing this, is it a lot of trouble, and what kind of final asking price are we looking at ?? I look forward to replies with great interest. Nigel

A long time after this note was last in use, but I thought I'd raise a cautionary note about cars from the US. Whilst my Marcos was being resprayed, I was treated to a tour of the bodyshop which was doing the work. Amongst the many vehicles in there was what, at first sight, looked just like an old Honda Legend. However, closer examination revealed that it was, in fact, an Accura Leg-end. Apparently this car had been sitting in the bodyshop for weeks, awaiting a new bumper (US Spec differs from the UK) because even Honda UK had been unable to source a bumper. Worth considering when thinking of snapping up a bargain car in the States. Mark |
