99.0. "Any good body shops in Reading ?" by CHEST::EVANS_C (5..4..3..2..1.. Thunderbirds are go !!!) Wed Mar 09 1988 12:46

Does anyone know of a good body shop in the Reading area ?

Cost is not that important, as it's an insurance job. I'm more concerned
about location. It has to be near Acre Road (unlikely) or somewhere in
Reading where I can hire a car nearby.

Chris.

P.S. The car's an Opel (I've already got a quote from Great Western Motors,
     the Vauxhall/Opel dealer)

I just phoned Barkers to let them have a look at my car regarding some
welding, They have changed their name to GKS Car Services, but are
still at the same address and phone number. I'll let you know if they
are still as good as they have been in the past.

I need two sills replaced on my Fiesta (no, it's not an XR2, but it
only does 5k miles a year) and I'd like to pay less than Reg Vardy's
    350 for them.

    Any recommendations?

yeah - take a trip to Basingstoke and get Ralph's to do it. Even if
they turn out no cheaper it's worth it for the standard of the job they
    do!

99.33Just a competent, cheap, local person needed!IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeTue Oct 10 1995 10:2910
Barkers (who I've used before) are no longer trading.

I can't really go to somewhere in Basingstoke, however good they are,
since the logistics are going to be difficult enough in Reading!

I don't really care if the job isn't brilliant, since this isn't a
racing car, nor a new one! I don't have any great hangups that only a
Ford main dealer could do a good job, I just thought that some
competent small outfit that didn't have the overheads could do an
    acceptable job for less money.

J&M Auto Services (Nashgrove Lane - Wokingham) did one sill on my
wife's '84 fiesta last year for 35 quid (parts & labour). Call them on
    W'ham 776307.
