2011.1 | Fabric Place & Oscar's - upholsterers - Stow | FDCV14::DUNN | Karen Dunn 223-2651 | Wed Jun 29 1988 12:04 | 13 |

We had ours done at the Fabric Place (3 years ago), they did a great
job, but they're not cheap.
You should contact Oscar's, he's at the intersection of rts 117 & 62
in stow. Give him a call, he has a really unique answering machine
message. I didn't use him because of timing. I did use a buddy of
his for a slip cover, was fantastic.

| Re - .19 Re - upholsterers.
Try givin Marcoux upholstery in Leominster a call. They have been
around for a long time, and have given us good service on several
occaisions. They are currently redoing my Grandmother's living
room set (re-stringing/springing), and are the only ones she found
that would even touch it.

2011.5 | Jim Santiago - Maynard MA | MEMV01::SUPPORT | | Wed Mar 14 1990 21:31 | 13 |

this is an update on a previous recommendation - the man is named
Jim Santiago, and he does furniture refinishing and hardwood floors.
He is excellent. I had posted a recommendation here for him in 1987,
then he moved and phone number changed, and I just came across the ad
I had placed with a bad phone number. I had bought a buffet and table
that were ruined in a fire and he refinished them and did a fabulous
job. He is extremely timely, keeps his word and at the time I used him
he was just getting started in his own business and was very cheap. He
has now been in business a few years but is still very cheap - and I
have heard other people speak highly of him. His correct phone number
is 508-897-0183.

2011.6 | Stripping Workshop in Worcester? | POWDML::DUNN | | Tue Mar 02 1993 13:07 | 5 |
| Does anyone have experience with the Stripping Workshop, in Worcester,
for stripping a dresser? They do not dip, it's a hand-done method.
Thanks,

2011.7 | THE SEAMSTRESS SHOP IN PEPPERELL, MASS | CECV05::BRYANT | | Wed May 05 1993 14:52 | 11 |
| I'd like to recommend Kathy Gubernat, at the Seamstress Shop, in
Pepperell, for slipcovering furniture.
She just finished slipcovering an antique chair. She did a wonderful
job; the slipcover fits better than the original.
She is located in Pepperell, Massachusetts. Her phone is 508-433-8585.
You can tell her I sent you...

2011.10 | Wanted: someone to make slip cover for chair | TOOK::MORRISON | Bob M. LKG1-3/A11 226-7570 | Sun Sep 25 1994 17:27 | 10 |
| I am looking for someone to make a slip cover for a chair I have. This must
be someone who will come to my home in Boxboro, MA, take measurements, and make
a slip cover at reasonable cost, without requiring me to take more than a half
day off from work.
I checked the local phone books under "Slip Covers" and there was only one
person listed in the vicinity: Riordan Upholstery in Acton. Does anyone have
recent experience with them making a slip cover?
I would prefer to use a ready-made slip cover, but my guess is that chairs
come in so many sizes and shapes that it's not doable. The chair I have is
about 30 years old.

Bed and Bath is now carrying chair and couch covers that cover a
multitude of sins (;*}) very easily. It sounds like this would
cover your situation inexpensively and without taking time off
from work and then waiting mucho weeks for it to be made. They
end up looking like a slipcover. I found the quality to be
better than those of mail order and the discount stores.
Try them and see what you think. If not, I would suggest using
THE FABRIC PLACE for custom work. They used to do good work and
must still do.

| Thanks for posting this. It sounds like the B&B slip cover would do the job
for me for much less than having a slip cover made.

Where are they?

THE FABRIC PLACE is in Framingham, MA with branches in various
places that I cannot remember. Directory Assistance will help
you with their number in Framingham and then work from there.

2011.14 | What I really need is some stitching | TOOK::MORRISON | Bob M. LKG1-3/A11 226-7570 | Sun Oct 09 1994 18:07 | 8 |
| I took the suggestion several replies back and bought a "one size fits all"
slip cover from Bed & Bath. I was not happy with it. It's just a large, square
piece of cloth and looks like any piece of cloth would draped over a chair.
I have decided to forget about slip covers. What I really need is someone to
come over with a heavy-duty needle and thread and stitch up the places (about
3 feet in length) where the stitching has come loose from the back. That's the
only real problem with the chair. It's probably a half-hour job, but I'm not
skillful enough to do it myself.

2011.17 | Sleep Sofa | FBEDEV::NAHABEDIAN | | Mon May 20 1996 14:48 | 13 |
| Hi,
I'm looking for someone to re-upholster a sleep sofa. It's only about
5 yrs old, but my cats have found the fabric rather attractive and I
don't really like the colors anymore either.
Anyone have any recommendations for someone in the Southborough, MA
area?
Thanks a bunch.
