    We've used Cambridge Chemical since the pre-purchase inspection
    on our house 4 years ago and have been very satisfied.  I'm pretty
    sure they cover a fairly large service area (we live in Framingham).

    I used New England Labs out of Manchester, NH last year.  I had
    had large black ants for several years, had tried Agway products,
    had tried another exterminator.  They came, did the whole house,
    and I haven't seen an ant since.  That was a year ago May....

    In view of some recent notes...
    
    I'd recommend Colonial Pest in Concord, MA for pest control. 
    
    I had them treat for ants and bees last year. I did need to have them
    come back to re-treat (under the free within one-year guarantee) but I
    think this was reasonable considering the "nature" of pest problems.
    The key point was that they came back to re-treat under guarantee
    without a wimper of protest, and did a really detailed job exceeding
    the quality of the first job. 
    
    Overall, they do good work, are easy to deal with, and back-up their
    guarantee. 

    I recommend Locke's Pest Control in Concord.  Have used them on and off
    for six years.  Very reasonable prices.  The only "problem" is that it
    might take him 6 months to bill you!

I had the same experience as .85 with Locke's slow billing a few years ago.  
Normally not a problem, but since I was selling the house, it complicated 
matters in some fairly unpleasant ways.

Otherwise, the guy came highly recommended, and seemed extremely competent and 
cooperative.

    I need to get a house sprayed for carpenter ants (no damage, just
    some ants, so far).  I've called Locke's Pest Control in Concord,
    who quoted $95, and Waltham Chemical, who quoted $150 to $250,
    depending on size (I expect this house would fall at the lower
    end of the scale).
    
    Why does one place want twice as much money as the others?  They
    seem to offer equivalent service in terms of guarantee,
    respraying, etc.   Is this a case of "you get what you
    pay for", or is it that they make you pay what they think
    they can get?
    
    To put it another way: any reason why I shouldn't take
    the cheaper one (Locke's)?

    I need some good leads on termite exterminators... good price,
    reliability.  Is it necessary to buy the lifetime "warranty"-
    paying $X per year in case of recurrence of these critters?

    We recently used Townsend Pest Control for black ants.
    They were pretty reasonable, I guess !!  They are right on Rt. 13
    across from Townsend common.
    
    All I know is that the ants are gone ! They were accomodating as far
    as listening to your questions/problems and showed up when they said
    they would ....

    The exterminator that we've been using for a few years comes VERY
    highly recommended.  He works for an extermination company, and
    moonlights nights/weekends for about 1/2 of what his company would
    charge.
    
    In light of the fact that he would lose his job if caught, I'd rather
    not post his name/number here.  However, if you send me mail, I'll send
    you the info.

      someone we happened upon who does *EXCELLENT* work, 1/2 price!)

    P.S. He lives in Dracut, MA, but has been known to travel 1 hour+, so

    In the Millbury/Worcester area I recommenc Mike Dangredo, owner of
    Worcester County Exterminators. He guarantees his work for 6 months.
    A whole house "preventative" treatment cost me ~$125.
    
    I did have to have him come back last Thursday when it appeared I had
    a nest under a window frame. Called him at 9:30 P.M. and he was there
    by 10:00. By 10:30 the problem was found and destroyed.

    I would be interested in hearing (via *mail*, in keeping with the
    constraints on references) anybody's experiences, positive or
    negative with Central New England Chemical in specific reference
    to termite control. Locale is Carlisle MA. We've had work done by
    them in the past for carpenter ant control, but termites demand
    different techniques, so myself as reference isn't particularly
    germane here.

    We've got evidence (via a sighted swarm) of termites *under* our
    slab somewhere. No evidence anywhere of attacking the structure
    yet (according to the initial inspection they did after we called
    CNEC), so we need to head 'em off (the termites, that is).

    Other recommendations (positive or negative by mail) in the area
    would not be thought amiss of, either, especially if you've had a
    house on a slab treated.

    I just used the exterminator referred in -10 and was very pleased with
    his services he was very cordial, thorough, & punctual and explained what 
    he was doing. He said if I ever have a problem he would come back with
    no charge. He now has his own company K&L exterminators (508) 957-5550

         I live in Weare, NH and I'm looking for recommendations for
         exterminators in the Manchester/Hillsboro/Concord, NH area. 
         I've been seeing large black ants around and on my house.  No
         swarms, but onesy/twosy inside and outside.

	Based on references here I used K&L, .10 & .13, and was extremely
	DISsatisfied. He did come back MANY times and still didn't solve
	the problem. When I saw what he did to my insulation under an
	addition I decided not to have him back. 

    Does anybody have experience with an exterminator for termite pest
    control in Merrmack/Nashua area?  I am thinking of going with AmPro and 
    would appreciate hearing from otehr people.

About a month ago, I had A. D. Security Pest Control
(508 452 6600) out to deal with my carpenter ants 
infestation.  So far, I'm _very_ happy with their work.
They're based out of Lowell (Ma.), but travel all over
(they also advertise in the Boston yellow pages), so 
I'm sure southern NH is in range. They also deal with
termites and other pests.

The owner, Vance DeVincent, used to be with one of the
big guys (I forget who), but started his own company
a few years ago.  At $195 (knock off another 10% with
the yellow pages coupon), he came in about $100 less
than other exterminators I'd called.  While I paid less
than this two years ago from another exterminator for
the same problem, I was very dissatisfied with that
person's work.

While Vance's answering service was clueless about ant
problems (I was ready to hang up), when she wisely
put him on the phone, it was obvious he was not.  
I found him to be knowledgeable, punctual, sensitive
to my concerns (spraying of chemicals in a house with 
a pregnant wife and shallow well). He also backs up his
work with a 6 month guarantee (he'll come back for
re-treats), though I would hope, at least, that this 
would be standard procedure.

    One year is a bit more common, in my experience (i.e. last time I had 
    carpenter ant treatment, it was $150 with retreats within a year
    covered by the contract. That was a few years ago (knock wood ... hmmm,
    sounds hollow), so increased prices wouldn't surprise me that much. 
    Having the retreat option is important, because carpenter ants have 
    been known to up and move their nests on the spot when the first
    whiff of chemicals come in.
    
    

Has anyone had any recent experience with an exterminator serving the 
Merrimack, NH area?  I'd really be interested in someone who had a 
carpenter ant treatment over the last few years.  Also any comments 
on the value of maintenance contracts, etc.
