908.0. "Outdoor Shower" by AKOV75::BRYANT () Thu Dec 24 1987 12:00
This isn't exactly the season for it, but I am interested in creating
a shower valve for an outdoor shower. I know that pre-made ones
are available, but at this time of year, no one has them. I'm
interested in one with just seperate controls for hot and cold.
I assume that I can't just use 2 regular shutoff valves for this,
since it seems that backflow might be an issue. Someone mentioned
'ball' valves, but I have never heard of these. Anyone know what
a 'ball' valve is? Does it have an AKA?
Or does anyone know any place that has pre-made ones? I work in
Maynard and live on the South Shore (Weymouth).

| Ball Valves has a moveable ball with a stem for the control and
a hole drilled in the ball, usually the size of the diameter of
the pipe. Gate valves are the same except the ball is replaced with
a flate disk to gate off the flow.
Most house hold valves are a screw stem with a "U" flow with the
screw acting on the bottom of the inverted "U".
Out door showers are better fitted with disconnect lines to allow
trapped water to flow out if you're living where there's chances
of freezing.
