| There's an avid horseshoe pitching society in DEC Littleton (LKG
specifically). There are pits there and players every noon time.
Take a trip up some lunch time and make measurements...and ask
some questions.

| A friend of mine has a pit...
If you buy the horseshoes & stakes kit, it usually comes with
instructions for setting it up. Sporting goods places sell the kits.

Hi Dave,
$3000 worth of new horseshoe pits were just built behind the lower
level of HLO bldg. 1 parking lot. Kevin Marshall in Security was
involved in it. He's the kind of guy that would pass along any helpful
information he has.

| Dave,
I put in horseshoe pits this summer, great for cookout fun and
entertainment. The stakes are 40' apart and should tilt at a slight
angle towards each other. The pits are 6' square with the posts in
the middle and filled with a clay mixture of some sort. I used sand
but I think stone dust might work better. A friend fo mine used
clay in his but this had a tendency to harden up over time if not
used and required working it to soften it up. As previously mentioned,
the directions are included with a set of horseshoes.

| BTW, if you've got a cat, figure out a way to cover up the sand.
Cats don't know the difference between a litter box and a horseshoe
pit. -Tom R.

| re: .6
Getting six ringers in a game leads me to believe that Brookstone's
excellent layout puts the stakes about 6' apart. 8^)
